A Very High Five to The Fight Spot Readers

June 04th, 2007 | Announcements | Syndicate Content

I want to give a very high five to all of you who read and comment on The Fight Spot.

A Very High Five

There have been many posts that started out weak and scraggly but after a few comments they were turned into something much stronger. I am amazed at the level of maturity and the community that has been built within the readership and comments section.

Two particular posts come to mind:

1) Over a month ago The Fight Spot got attacked by trollers. Trollers are just immature folks that leave flaming, rude, or totally un-called-for comments. Instead of deleting the comments, I left them up and didn’t respond. I was stunned to see how well you guys responded to the crazy comments.

2) The beer & clergy post, from just a few days ago. That post didn’t exactly go where I initially expected. To have dozens of comments talking about alcohol, moderation and excess can be a scary thing. But there were incredible points made with clear maturity shown forth in those comments. Everyone was able to safely share their opinions and convictions.

It is for instances like these that I have the comments turned on. Allowing you guys to point out my bad grammar and spelling and share your thoughts.

The Fight Spot belongs to you. Thank you for reading, and leaving your fightin’ words.

I feel a high five for you is in order as well Shawn. Without the posts, thoughts, ideas that you put into The Fight Spot, we would not have this opportunity to share opinions and thoughts in such a comfortable manner!

I agree with Phil, high five and a fist pound to you Shawn. Great thought provoking blogs. Your Fab 5 Lifestyle Practice for Maturity in God and the blog regarding goals are something I have incorporated into my daily life. When my wife and family visit IHOP in August (for a conference and to hang out with a friend who goes to FSM), I would love to buy you lunch at Chipotle and treat you to an Americano at the Higher Ground. Lord Bless

    @ Phil: Thanks dude.

@ Marc: You have no idea about the Fab 5 and the journey the Lord has taken me on with them lately. It’s interesting that you bring it up… Just last night Anna and I were talking about how I picked them up a couple years ago and began running with them, and how now we’ve realized that although I have been pursuing each of them continually, the Lord has been taking me through each one in an intense and focused way. 1st it was eyes and speech, 2nd it was time, and now I’m literally just starting a season of learning more on how to manage finances. I’ve been reading some books and working on budgets and I am fired up about it to say the least. And to top it all off, I just received a prophetic word that the Lord would be teaching me more about prayer and intercession. Ha!

And you are definately on for Chipotle and Coffee. My time is easily bought with food. But we may have to hit up Starbucks instead (the coffee at HGC isn’t exactly famous).

Shawn, seriously I’ve enjoyed your blog immensely. Even when I don’t get a chance to comment, I’ve spent time pondering your posts, and have found them challenging and intelligent. Not only that but you convinced me to switch to wordpress (which I’m very happy with). You’ve created a nice community here.

I agree with Phil, Marc, Ronnie, and everyone else who has yet to thank you back. Your posts are excellent and thought-provoking, and you’ve managed to raise up an excellent forum of discussion here.

And I’m with Marc. I’m not going to be in KC at any point in the forseeable future, but the next time you find yourself in Southern California, In-N-Out is on me (other readers here and other IHOPers can consider that an open offer, BTW).
