Apple just cranked out 3 new Get a Mac adds. I think they may be the best so far.

Wow. They even had one where I didn’t feel the need to correct their facts…they are getting better.

Do you not find it a little ironic they are taking the mick out of a delayed system, when only weeks ago they delayed their own? I know it’s not to the scale of Vista’s delay, but kettle and black anyone?

But Phil, have you not heard, do you know know? Mac can do no wrong…

Just kidding. It is a bummer to see Leopard delayed.

Except for that “Wheel of Vista” bit, every one of those ads is misleading.

I know, I know, but SOMEONE’s got to rain on this parade, and I’ve got a fancy piece of paper saying I’m qualified to talk about coputer systems.

Is a coputer system like a computer system?

It is. I should point out that my writing makes it apparent I have a degree in a science, rather that something like English.

If it were otherwise, I doubt my GPA would have nearly so good.

I love the one about upgrading. You see, with a Mac, you don’t upgrade. You just buy an entirely new machine.

    Wait, how is that better?

you can upgrade a mac. You just need to know what you’re doing. There are plenty of tutorials online.

Actually, you don’t even have to know what you’re doing to upgrade your operating system.

If you’re upgrading your only machine and you have no backup you can put in the latest operating system and select “Archive and install.” It will keep all your existing information, users setups, etc and install a fresh version of the operating system underneath it all.

If you do have a fire-wire bootable backup of your system then you can do “Erase and Install” and then connect your backup and your computer will automatically migrate all your files, apps, user settings, etc over to your fresh clean install.

Check out this article, Myth #13.

A hacker declared Vista to be more secure than OS X.

I like Macs, but I don’t understand why people attribute infallibility to them. They’re machines just like any other.

Exactly! That what I’m saying. And believe you me, before OSX, is was even scarier (there was some really basic stuff not done even under system 9).

granted, Vista is five years in the making before being released, I’d hope it would be a pretty secure OS.

The Month of Apple Bugs things didn’t actually find an OS X vulnerability every day, I think there was one major bug found but mostly it was hype.

The Mac OS thing has more to do with security, it’s with the usefulness and quality of the OS. ( I do miss using OS9 on occasion).

I think, regardless of what platform you are on, practicing safe security habits is important.
