Every day I have three goals I want to meet
- Breakthrough with God in prayer
- Serve and love others
- Faithfullness in my current position / calling from the Lord
At the end of my day I can look back and evaluate how I spent my time and how my heart responded to different situations. I look to see if I accomplished these three goals or not. If I did, then I thank God and ask for more grace to continue. If I did not meet these goals, then I can evaluate the details of my day.
I will look at how I spent my time and what I can do differently to be sure I have time for the things that are ultimately most important to me and are gaining ground in God. I can look at situations I was in and see if I handled them in righteousness. If not, then I can learn, repent and purpose in my heart to handle things better next time I am in a similar situation.
I find daily goals and my evaluation of them important because they keep me on a steady track toward maturity in God.
Without consistent, daily evaluation of how I use my time, words, money, etc., I may lose days or weeks to unfruitfulness. The inner-approval of these goals and the remembrance of seasons where I have accomplished them can deceive me into thinking I am actually still doing them. Thanks to daily evaluation I can see in truth if they are accomplished or not. I don’t want to waste one day, let alone a whole week or month.
GROUP PROJECT
Here is how you can participate
- Write a post on your blog about your goals and leave a comment here with the link.
- Write your goals directly in the comments
- Invite those reading on your blog to join the project by writing your own post and linking back to this one
FOLLOW UP
In addition to posting links to your site and your goals (if you write a post about them) I will put up a follow up post for us share how our week went having a stronger focus on our daily goals.
I realize a week is not very long. If you only set one goal that is o.k. You can even change it down the road. It took me several months to figure out my goals in a way that made sense to me and that I could easily look at and evaluate.

Daily Goals for Maturity in God. « My thoughts, my life, me. said:
[...] Friday, April 27th, 2007 in Focus, Faith, Life Over a past period of time recently, I have been re-evaluating the way that I live my life. Continually getting in touch with God on what my goals are and what He wants me to achieve. This week especially, I have been thinking alot about goals that I could work on daily and attempt to achieve. I’ve kept putting it off alot, but finally have confronted it here thanks to Shawn Blanc’s group writing project. [...]

Meekness

Not sure how to get rid of those nasty pingbacks, but feel free to delete them, Shawn, they’re from my blog.

hmm..that’s almost kind of tough to pick three goals right now. Can I do two goals? Three might be too many for me right now.

My daily goals are:
1. Practice the Presence of God. Be a witness and blessing in all my relationships.
2. Accomplish actual quantities of time in prayer and Bible study, on purpose.
3. Be a good and faithful steward of my time, money, and talents, bringing glory to God in the every day.

My goals are:
1/ Spend quality AND quantity time pursuing God and interceding for others
2/ Use my resources to reflect a passionate pursuit of God
3/ Brush teeth at night & work on music (really these are part of #2, sadly enough… they need extra emphasis)

1. Intentionally pursue humility.
2. Have awareness of the Lord’s presence, commune with Him through out the day & submit to His leading.
3. Aggressively resist heaviness, but instead choose to rejoice.

@ Yuri: Those are good. I like the concept of resisting heaviness and pursuing thankfulness.

I failed to post my three goals on here earlier, because I heard about your challenge through a friend who is a dedicated reader of your blog. So first, here are my goals:
1. Spend time in worship, the Word, and intercession.
2. Work on my music, writing, or drawing; at least one of these.
3. Spend more quality time with my daughter, and cleaning/organizing my home and less time in front of the T.V.
Second, on your question about advice and practicals on managing time with kids, I’ve found that trying to come up with more CREATIVE ways to entertain gives more variety, e.g. cool “field trips”, cool ways to introduce art and music, playdates with other kiddos, etc. This is too long a comment now, but you get the idea. *grin*
