About a month ago Ron, Bes and myself brainstormed how to honor those who take the time and effort to read our blogs. The idea formed Reader Appreciation Week. R.A. Week will be April 9-13. I am excited and will be participating 100%. If you’re a reader on FTSA now would be a great time to pop in with a comment once or twice so I know who you are. This is because I will be giving stuff away every day durring the R.A. Week. If you have your own site I recommend you jump on board too. You can get full details here.
UPDATE: Find out what FTSA is doing here.

I’m in! Let the appreciating and appreciatedness begin! That is, let it begin on April 9th. I’m not trying to cause a riot before riot season.

I am so in on the readers appreciation week or otherwise known as RAW. This makes me think of Ted Debiassi, Hulk Hogan, Ultimate Warrior, Jake the Snake, and Brutus the Barber Beefcake I have to admit though. So if the prizes have anything to do with those people… OOOOOOO YEAH! (Ultimate Warriors battle cry.)

so, I’m a new, but avid reader of your blog, does that make me worthy of appreciated?? I think I’ve read almost everything on your site… and liked it :).
don’t have a “real” blog of my own, so… can’t link in, but love it…. free prizes, anyone?
haha… keep it up!

I think Jesse just wanted some free stuff, if there were no prizes there would be no posting. Which means in order to get people to post on your site you must offer free stuff. I will try that.

Cool…heck I just enjoy that you actually converse with us… some people just leave the comments there and you wonder if they actually read them.
BTW…saw Blue Man Group last night… bwa ha ha!!! I’m in a major mood to drum!!!!! (I figured if anyone could appreciate this “need” I’m feeling….)

@ Ronni: I have alwyas wanted to see Blue Man Group. My only chance was once when I was in college on spring break my roomates and I drove to LA and BMG was playing in Vegas but the tickets were like $120 or something. We were poor college students with bareley enough dough for gas.
@ Benjamin: Giving away prizes deffinately helps quite a bit, but like Ronni said I think a way to increase comments is throgh interaction. I do have some excelent prizes to give away durring the RA Week. I really thought outside of the box this time and am extremely pumped about how it’s all going to work and about the things I’ll be giving away…. oh boy oh boy oh boy!

@ All: O.k. I’ll give you a little hint about what prizes I have and how I’m going to give them away.
Actually, I think I’ll keep it secret. You’ll just have to wait and see. But don’t worry everyone will have a chance to win; from FTSA Veterans to brand new readers.

Are you liking putting all the names in a hat and then wearing it for a day and whatever name doesn’t fall out by the end of the day is the winner?
Cause that would be pretty cool to wear a top hat for a day with names falling out randomly.

Hey Shawn, I just turned onto your blog. I love it. The posts about apostolic blogging fueled me to jump back into writing on my own. Thanks!

I’m a huge fan of your blog. I’ve been a reader for a few months now, but nothing brings a reader out of the shadows like the possibility of prizes!

I’m strongly considering doing this myself (to transform my readers into commenters), but I’ll have to come up with some prizes I can actually provide…

@ Evan: I’ll be giving something away every day to at least one person, if not two.
@ Jason: Welcome man. I’m glad you like my site. I hope to see you around in the comments more…
@ Sharon: Welcome to you too. It’s nice to meet you.
@ Matt: Don’t worry. Winning a prize will not based on number of comments at all. You’ll see… It’s going to be grrrrrrrreat!

I always suspected free stuff gets people motivated; like puppets on a monetary string! Myself included!
You can take over the world with free t-shirts*.
I saw blue man group once. It was amazing. I felt like I should have at least had a headache afterwards….
*if anyone can name the random cartoon reference, that would be just wonderful.
