Intimacy with God is our only hope for maturity, power and happiness.
It was intended that we be friends of God
God is love—thus relating to Him in any other context is less than our highest invitation. He has invited, beckoned and even required us to love Him. To lean in and hear the secrets of His heart.
We have not been truly awakened to long for intimacy with God until we have had a glimpse and a taste of His love towards us. When we get a revelation of this desire towards us then a condition begins to stir within us which expresses itself in thoughts of pursuing Christ for a more realizing and satisfying sense of His love.
Desire for intimacy marks the starting point of real spiritual progress.
“If a believer has not this reality of a questing spirit created within him by the Holy Spirit - this dissatisfaction with the ordinary and this ardent pursuit of love’s full end - then it is utterly impossible to attain to any intimate relationship with the Lord. These outgoings of longing for desire form the basis of all fuller and future experience.” [Watchman Nee - Song of Solomon]
We think that if our emotions are dry, we’re bored and our life in God is difficult at best then we’re doing our duty. We think that it takes ‘more faith’ to serve a God that we don’t encounter, interact with or experience. We say we’re content to read our Bible often enough and avoid cussing while trying to ‘act like a Christian’ since that’s probably what God wants.
I am resolved to live my life to the fullness. In the grace and the joy of God.
Where’s my faith? I will tell you something: It takes audacious faith to believe that we are called to be friends of God. It takes LESS faith to wallow in our guilt after we sin. It takes MORE TRUE FAITH to believe that the work of the cross was enough and all we have to do is say “Yes God.”
We do God more honor by believing what He has said about Himself: He is love.
So many are trying to honor God by punishing themselves for their sin by sitting in guilt and condemnation. Yet they are still doing the same sins after 20 years.
God is asking us to just receive His forgiveness. After we fall let’s repent, get back up and stop talking about our sin.
I refuse to ‘endure’ the Christian life to avoid hell
Sure I want to avoid hell - we all do - but that’s not why I got saved. I got saved because I felt the kiss of a kind Father offering me forgiveness. When I stepped in I found the family is full with joy and life and pleasure.
I want my inheritance right now
No, I’m not talking about money to go spend on booze and needy friends. I’m talking about a face to face relationship with the Living God. Adam, Moses, David, Isaiah, John… they all got to. Why not me? Just because I’m not living in Bible times? fooey! (And yes, I always wanted to end a post with the word “fooey”.)

Good word on Faith bro. I love that that kind of faith moves God’s heart. Not to mention mountains.

YESYESYES! You put it into words what our hearts are crying out for! And it refers not only to the miracle signs and wonders stuff (the context in which many people put this question), but to the subject of intimacy as well! That’s so great! Why not me! Why not today! There are no limits. AAAH! That makes me wanting moooore and pressing on…
Fooey! (I don’t really know what it means…I think I’d translate it with “Tse!”. Just to expand the collection of strange words;)
