As I mentioned in the comments of my previous post, I have developed a stronger vision for this site to be a place of equipping. The blogosphere is growing by the minute. In the 12 months since I began blogging dozens of IHOP blogs have started. Many of them are already going strong with quality, Kingly content.
So, you’re reading this and you say to yourself, “Shawn, I’d like my blog to be a tool. I want more than to just randomly exhale onto my keyboard and then click publish. I really want to make something of my site and I want to touch God in the process.”
Then here is step one to building an apostolic blog: Get a Message
Your message has two parts:
Call me logical, but you can’t say something without first having something to say. And if you really want to touch people then you have to have more than just words. You need a reality. You need sincerity and anointing. You need a genuine encounter with God.
How to get your message
You and I both know it’s not quite as simple as ABC 123. But hopefully this will give you some vision to take your life in God to a deeper, more focused level.
- Your secret life comes first
- An Experience with God is worth 1,000 golden posts
- You are a messenger in all areas of life
There is no substitute for your hidden life in God. If you’re not pursuing Christ you aren’t going anywhere. You must have a secret life in God. It’s called oil. Intimacy.
People can tell if you actually have something to say or if you’re just rambling. Even an un-articulate person who’s touched God in the secret place wil have a message (Did someone say Moses?)
Blessed are those who do and teach the least of these commandments. They shall be great… (Matthew 5:19 paraphrased)
We have downgraded the role of preacher and teacher to mean ‘pulpit only’. You can be a messenger of truth when you’re with your friends at the coffee shop, or when you’re emailing a co-worker or when you’re talking to a family member. There is no rule for when and where you can speak truth, encouragement and strength to others. There is no clock-in / clock-out for when you can call people higher.
Remember, intimacy with God comes above everything else. If you have a burden to use your site to touch deeper things in God, then you need to have an even higher vision for your own heart.
