In the past few months ubers of friends have jumped into the blogging swimming pool. Too many to name (actually, I have named them. See below…).
Randy’s ‘Illustrious Roll of Peeps’ is turning into the ‘Lengthy Roll of Peeps.’ At this rate it will soon be the ‘Endless Roll of Peeps’. (I’m still proud to be on there Randy. Did anyone else have to pay up?)
The problem here is that more you recognize everyone the less you emphasize anyone. My point being that so many friends and collegues are joining the ranks of bloggers that it’s impossible to highlight them all.
I have decided to link many of them in the linkage page because they deserve it, however I will be highlighting only a few at a time on my sidebar as “Premium Links”. Can I get a “boo ya!”
The 2 or 3 blogs on the sidebar will rotate about once a month as I give attention to blogs I think you would like, or to blogs that are more popular than mine and I’m trying to brown nose.
In the meantime, here’s a quick shoutout to all the latest and greatest from the Prayer Room:
Matt, David, Ron, Steve & Amanda, Jono, Benjamin, Zack, Kyle, Ian, Jared, Charity,Michaela, and Josh Hawkins
[If I missed your blog just let me know, I’d be more than happy to add it to the list. Email me or leave a comment.]

Looks like Dave Sliker’s “who would you like to see blogging” post worked

It turned into who can start a blog in the next five minutes? The need for individuality is all the more pressing.

IHOP Bloggers welcome to our world. Shawn is so right about the individuality…get creative. Show some pictures people! All words and photos makes it hard to be read. Remember too most of us can’t be a David Sliker and write a chapter for our next book as a blog post. READ all of shawns tips & tricks for blogging. BTW, the new bloggers are serious about JESUS!

Shawn, you’re totally misunderstanding the nature of the Illustrious Roll of Peeps. It’s the roll that’s described as illustrious, not the peeps…in which case it would be the Roll of Illustrious Peeps, not the Illustrious Roll of Peeps.
Words matter. For real.
You’re right about one thing though. The more I recognize everyone, the less I emphasize anyone. In fact, it’s intentional.

When we first came to iHOP we were told “without email here, you’ll be nowhere, NOWHERE! MWAHAHAHA!!!” (emphasis added by author). Now I think it might be more like “without a blog here, you’ll be uncool, UNCOOL! MWAHAHAHA!!”
no?

@Randy: Point taken.
@Ben: You don’t have to have a blog to be cool. You can make up for it by laughtin extremely loud and exaggeratedly on other people’s comment threads.

A blog is cool?
When I tell people I blog, they give me nothing but weird stares.

Hey Shawn, if I switch to Wordpress and start using my real name, will you add me to the linkage, illustrious or otherwise?
Although…most of the people I know don’t call me by my real name anyway…and Blogger works for me…and it is nice being hidden…

@Ron: Try doing that MUAHAHA laugh when you tell them about your blog. Maybe that will help…
@Ducky: The only thing I can promise is that wordpress is cooler than blogger.

having switched from blogger to wordpress a week ago, I have to say Shawn’s right. Wordpress is amazingly better.
Ducky, there’s no reason you can’t be something like duckythegreatblogger.wordpress.com and keep your identity hidden

I don’t know, guys; you might get me to convert to WordPress one of these days.
Michaela, I like your suggested URL.
I think I might prefer to remain somewhat anonymous. As a rather paranoid person, I often imagine that complete strangers might read my blog, come to the Missions Base and stalk me. I’m pretty easy to find. On the other hand, complete strangers could also decide to send a check to my support account. Hmm…

1. All you need is a PayPal link and people can still support you without knowing who you are.
2. If you do decide to switch, I have a great step-by-step on moving from blogger to wordpress without losing your posts.

Shawn,
I hate to tell you that the conversion from blogger (aka blogspot) didn’t work for me. I am assuming it is because they’ve implemented the new google accounts login piece. I used to be a computer programmer in a former life, so I know it wasn’t user error
I could login fine at blogger but couldn’t get the login to work at my wordpress site… I finally gave up and moved each post manually… fortunately it wasn’t too many posts for me to move and I love that Wordpress allows you to edit the timestamp when necessary, so I did that on each post. The manual method works pretty well, too.

@Michaela: Thanks for the info. I’ll have to redo an import to figure out how to do it. Or just label my old post as ‘void’.
