Christmas Giveaway

December 11th, 2006 | Announcements | Syndicate Content

Christmas GiveawayI’m giving away a Christmas present to one happy Fight Spot reader.
You may have heard me mention a mystery item that I’ve been using and continue to use and love.

I have decided to give one away for Christmas.

(I’ve been trying to give one away for a while but unsure of how to do it. When I read Darren’s Christmas Giveaway I knew he had the perfect solution.)

So as a Holiday gift to one special reader I’m giving away a brand new mystery item. I will randomly pick one commentor (from any post) to receive the gift.

To win all you have to do is comment at least once before Christmas. Consider each comment to be an entry with no limit on how many times you can enter. (The only comments that count will be genuine ones of course.)

Happy Holidays!

- Shawn

Shawn, does this mean my bid for $5 is still high bid? :)

Oh! I’m excited…. hopefully we then get to actually find out what it is. I’m glad you love your….. Chihuahua! :-) No? Um….combination stapler and ice scraper???

  3. Shawn said:

@ Esther – $5 may be high bid, but it’s also a little pathetic.

@ Jo – Whoever wins must maintain the secrecy.

Wow!! hmm..i’m even more curious now because i forgot about your secret item, but now…maybe i’m about to find out soon!

    This should be fun.

Shawn, if I knew what it was and the value of it, then I could place an appropriate bid on it. Any hints? You do realize that is NZ$5 I’m bidding? :) We have all new coinage so you would be one of the first American’s to get that in your home. That should be worth something, eh?

  7. Shawn said:

Esther – If I give away too much info then it’s less of a surprise. And you don’t have to bid to win however tempting New Zealand money is.

Yay! I love give-aways. And I’ve been a comment slacker lately, so now I’ll be more motivated.

Oh, I like it! I know you’re a fellow gift-giver, so I know how much fun something mysterious and exciting must be for you. Actually, I’m quite jealous. This ranks right up there with anonymous giving. Enjoy!

@ Hollie – What about anonymously giving a mysterious gift? I think the universe would explode.

Shawn, yours is my favorite blog to read… ever.

Actually, I just made that up. But I can give you my word that upon being chosen, I will protect the identity of said item from whatever theiving scroundrels there are out there. (Unless they have fruit leathers…)

  14. isaac bennett said:

i thought the gift was fruit leathers…if it’s not…count me out…i mean in.

  15. The other Andy said:

Hmmm.. I don’t know what I want more, to know what the object is, or to have the object. So I don’t think I would mind if Isaac gets chosen, because we live in the same house and at least I would get to find out what the mystery item is.

@ Jackson – Brown-nosing is almost as bad as spamming.

I don’t even know what fruit leather is. Is it like a fruit roll-up?

  17. isaac bennett said:

Yea it’s like a fruit roll up but more tree hugger friendly.

Somehow I get the feeling I’m not allowed to win. I can just imagine the outburst of inner rage if the wife is ‘randomly’ chosen. Ah well. At least I already know what “it” is :)

This offer obviously stirred up some excitement – count me in! If I win, you wouldn’t even have to pay postage to PA – You could present it to my IHOPPER children who would be called upon to keep it until my next visit.
(I wouldn’t want geography to count against me!!) Of course, it would have to be “wrapped in secrecy.”

P.S. I am VERY good at keeping secrets. The mystery would remain a mystery. (Does it sound as though I’m campaigning?!?!)

  22. Jo said:

I don’t know Anna…. I think you could still win. As long as it’s random… and it would help Shawn keep it a secret. It STILL wouldn’t leave the family. :-)

However, you do already have the joy of knowing what it is… and playing with it. :-) You were probably there when Dear Mr. Blanc discovered such item.

  23. Shawn said:

@ Jo – I promise you it is random. A random post will be picked and then a random comment on that post will be picked and whoever happened to leave that comment will get an e-mail (asuuming it is a legitimate comment).

Do you have a randomiser to pick your random post? Dude, I think you need to ensure you have adjudicators, too. In fact, I think you should ensure that a different person picks the post from teh one who picks the comment, and all results should be independently verified. You do realise this could all get very ugly. People will appeal your decision, people may even sue. Look, call it off, send it to me, no-one will ever know – you can say you lost it, or that stores were sold out – it’ll just be our little secret – consider it a public service to avoid causing disappointment and heartache at Christmas.

@ Andy – Fret not my friend. I have hired a highly paid blog commentor picker professional to do the job. Nothing but law and order around here. Speaking of law and order, you’re not trying to bribe me are you?

Posted on December 13, 2006 at 11:20 am

  28. Andy said:

Me, bribe? I’m british – we simply don’t do that kind of thing ;-)

@ Andy – I happen to know that you purchased and most likely used an iPod FM transmitter even though it was illegal… It’s suspicious acts like this that give the rest of us law abiding web users a bad name. :)

I take the fifth, even though we don’t have a constitution to speak of, and what that is in our constitution, I’ve no idea. Seeing as this is a cross border dispute, I choose to adopt your constitution (which you wouldn’t have if we hadn’t graciously stood back and granted you independence ;-) ) and I will take the 5th. I’m telling you where I’m taking it, and you can have it back when I’m through.
