Wholehearted

November 02nd, 2006 | Announcements, Wholehearted | Syndicate Content

Today I added a new category to this site:

“Wholehearted”

Posts, articles and other things (not really sure what other things you find on a blog) that relate to living a life of sermon on the mount and loving Jesus.

When I was younger I used to call it being ’sold-out’ or ‘on fire’ … you can call what you like. Jesus called it the first and greatest commandment;

Loving God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength.

I’m going to be doing some posts on this topic in the near future. Starting with the 5 Lifestyle Practices for Maturity.

In the mean time I’ve gone through my site and re-tagged several posts into the ‘wholehearted’ category, and there is some great content in there. If you are newer to this site (say in the last 3 months) this is a good chance to check out some past posts.

    When it comes to loving Jesus with all of your heart, soul, mind, and strength, everybody needs to ask themselves one question: What’s not to love? The way story goes, if I’ve got it right, is the King of the Universe, far from being the heartless tyrant we all believed Him to be, as it turns out isn’t heartless at all. In fact, He’s humble, to the point that he couldn’t keep from putting on flesh and joining our plight to cheat death (a miserable go of it we’d had up to that point, I might add). Instead of cheating death, though, He faces it head on, and in the most stunning display of valiance this Man walks directly into Death’s macabre yawn and is swallowed for three days…but only three. After demonstrating that Death cannot hold Him He ascends like a comet in a blaze of glory back to the tippy-top of created order. The best part about the whole thing is that it wasn’t just a display of how strong He is (altough we’re all surely gawking at this point), but that this whole motion has carved out a path whereby we don’t have to be afraid of death anymore because it has become a door to eternal glory. Yet not for all mankind, but for those who will love Him with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength. So like I said: what’s not to love?

    […] As stated last week, a new category was added. The wholehearted category (no the category itself is not wholehearted, it’s about being wholehearted). Sorry, no half hearts allowed. […]
