The glue that holds this blog together is WordPress. Ever since my switch from blogger I haven’t looked back once.
Many of you have also made the switch, per my advice (thanks).
Some of you started fresh with WordPress, while some of you are still holding out (ah-hem).
Here is a brief article by the eloquent Lorelle on why all the big dawgs use WordPress.
If you don’t feel like reading it, I’ll cut to the chase: If you’re serious about blogging you ought to think about switching. WordPress rocks.
If you already power blogger, it’s easy to transfer to a WordPress blog without losing your content.

I agree - wordpress is quite the place. Added more functionality to my blog sidebar and now can track visits and all sorts of stuff. Pretty easy to experiment with stuff too.

Okay, I got the message. I’ll be switching next week after FSM is off for December. Has anyone had any problems or regrets at all after switching?

@ Burrito ChriS: You don’t loose anything at all. Nothing. Nada. It’s the best move a person on blogspot or Blogger can make.

Just tried to switch, it says it doesn’t take blogger beta. Maybe I’m not getting something

@ Kristen - Hmm. I’m not sure what to tell you. When I switched I wasn’t using blogger beta. I bet there’s a way to do it though. You can import from an RSS feed and your blogger beta has one of those.

@ Kristen: Yeah, the rss feed method works perfectly. I’ve done it myself.

Can you transfer comments with the RSS method too? Does blogger have a comments RSS feed?

For a blog, I agree that Wordpress is the bees-knees. Plugins and downloadable templates are perhaps its major attraction and strength, imo.
The one thing that bugged me was that the learning curve to write templates from scratch is very steep, and - OK two things - also the complexity of trying to use it as a CMS (which I accept is not what it was primarily built for) and that was why I switched to Expression Engine.
For a straight out blog, though, EE is not as customisable with add-ons - a piece of cake to design ground up templates for, but not so great for plug-ins.
Horses for courses, I guess. But overall, I agree - as a blog platform, Wordpress rules the roost.

Unfortunately no. The comments won’t transfer.

Ben is the one that got me to switch, and I have no regrets! It is so much easier and fun. and it looks more professional.
