Holy Jesus Freaks, Batman

October 03rd, 2006 | Wholehearted | Syndicate Content

Batman Bat-SignalI REALIZE THAT I have written several posts lately that one may define as “intense”. (Examples A, B and C have been duly noted, but don’t forget about my vision statement.)
I’d like to give a shout out to those of you who “hate my posts” or have been “hurt” by my them (thanks for your comments)…

Secondly I’d like to say that did all of you guys know that more people convert from deep darkness into grace (i.e. heathen to Christian) than convert from better to best (i.e. middle of the road Christian to Saint)? Say hu?

My point is that like it or not you and I have not arrived at the fullness God has available for us. It’s HARD to press in. I know I know. You’re all thinking:

“So what should we do with all these painful, intense posts that Shawn is throwing at us? Come on Shawn, I want to hear about what kind of coffee you’re drinking and what’s on your iPod.”

Well, that stuff is all fine and dandy, so here’s my deal with you. I’ll promise to occasionally post about americanos and playlists if you promise to press in for the best. Press into deep holiness. Press in to Christian maturity. You want to enjoy life? You want to have anointed prayers? You want to love the Word? Let’s go low.

Let’s go way Low. Don’t buy those new shoes, don’t eat that extra scoop of ice cream, don’t order the Venti…(did I just say that?)

Let’s possess our souls, and dive into radical holiness. Become a Jesus Freak. For real. Can I get an “OUCH!”?

I fall into the camp of one who says “Yes”, but has not yet done it. Keep kickin’ Shawn. I am not offended, only convicted and encouraged that I am not alone in my weakness. But I don’t want that to be an excuse. You know, like I don’t feel so bad cause there are others struggling too. I just want to stir myself up over and over again to step it up to the next level and hopefully stir some others along the way . . . just like you.

Ouch and Amen! It’s time to shed ourselves of our preconcieved righteousness… only God makes us righteous… so may we all press into the Glory, for only in the Glory do we fully KNOW Gods WAYS… I want to know His ways! I want to know Him more fully! I don’t want to vacilate between fire and lukewarm, God never spit me out! It’s our jobs to fire up, stir up and free up! Let’s get going!!!

This post reminds me of something that will not get out of my head, “blessed are the poor in spirit”. Getting low is not fun, but it means the opportunity to access and posses a place high above earthly enjoyment: heaven. Your “let’s get real” blogs are good, especially for people who have been saved a longtime, we need our fallow hearts hacked into so we can become broken once more.
