There are lots and lots of blogs out there…

I read that the average pro-blogger makes $39,000 a year. Lucky for me I have a side job, eh?

I also read that there are over 34 million blogs in Chinese. Wow!

So in all the blogging-ness of our www.com.org/blog society where do you fit in?

1. If you have your own blog then give us the skinny: What do you publish with? Where can we find you? What do you blog about? Fill in the _________?

2. If you don’t have your own blog, why do you read? What do you like and dislike about blogs? Any advice for those of us slaving to entertain and enlighten you?

    3. My advice to us slaving bloggers out there: Don’t try so hard.

    1. I publish with xanga, but I’m going to switch to blogger in the near future. I also have myspace but I don’t use it to blog, just to connect with friends.
    2.www.xanga.com/crazy989
3.I blog about my life, with some scriptures added in, and some funny moments from my friends around here at ZHOP
4.It’s 3:15 and I’m still awake, and no i’m not on nightwatch.

On a side note, I just finished listening to the onething podcast with you on it.
On another side note..during the 7th year anniversary. Isaac, Morgan and I were in the ZHOP office watching the webcast and caught the “worst prayer room set” ever skit that you guys did. Morgan asked Isaac “Who’s drumming” Isaac responded “It’s shawn you can tell by his hairy arms.”
Just thought i’d share that with you. it was pretty funny.
    Hope everything is going great.
I enjoy reading your blog, it’s very encouraging.
Pray for ZHOP we have to find a new building in 2 weeks
Pray for me, my finances are crazy right now haha.
    Thanks for your prayers
    God Bless

I don’t really blog (and don’t like that word :) though I’ve briefly used blogger and WordPress.

I have an online site at http://www.rtis.com/nat/user/jfullerton that I started around 1995 when the WWW was getting started. I haven’t updated much lately.

I liked to use my site to record my thoughts and to use to develop thoughts and to change the internet itself :)

I think I mainly read blogs because I want to hear what’s going on at IHOP.

I like reading things where after I’ve read it I feel like I did something good :)

Advice? Be yourself. We like you :) (don’t take that personally from me, though, just from God!)

As I was thinking about what to write, I looked across my room and saw my workout book “Getting Stronger” and it seemed like that’s what’s happening to the community, we’re getting stronger, we’re learning what to say, we’re seeing the effects of the good, we are, as others have recommended :) learning to love

    4. (Jesse) Just finished watching the first season of The Tick cartoon on DVD…and loved it.
(Char) I want a VW Toureg, I built one online with a sticker of $58,000…it was pretty.

I don’t have a blog, and the only blog I have ever read is your’s Shawn, because I am your Mother! Ha! Does anyone over 50 blog? Your blog is very entertaining, and I’m not saying that because I am your Mother. I especially loved your interview with Zach Hendsley, I even made Dad read it, for the part about smashing the crystal cymbal, but he didn’t laugh as much as I did.

    1) Thanks to Shawn I use WordPress. Still figuring out all the bells and whistles.
    2) jodoria.wordpress.com
    3) Life in general… mostly onething trips or fun things in the day to day. My goal is to stay in touch with friends and supporters.
    4) I’m watching a special on the Discovery Channel about “The Womb”… so interesting! They’re going through week by week the progression of a baby. So fascinating… the baby can even taste it’s mother’s cooking after twenty weeks! Also… I am sick of car accident commercials. Makes me not want to drive, not feel safer.

Yep, Bea, I’m over 50 and I blog. But I’m not very consistant with it and I tend to read others more than write on mine. You did well with your son; he is a very good writer and seems to love God a lot. You must be very proud of him.

    3. Thoughts related to Intercessory Prayer, Radical Christianity, humor, and life.
    4. Does anyone make money from this? I can hardly believe people read my stuff (or the stuff I “steal”) let alone that they would spend money from an advertisment on my site. How do they do that?
    5. Blogging is very fun.
    6. Also look at my awesome website that shawn & josh made: http://www.soulpants.org

Used to use Blogger, switched to Wordpress - fantastic tool, now use Expression Engine (awesome stuff)

Write about anything and everything (mostly at length - sorry Anna.

But more importantly, how in the heck do I make $40k a year blogging - I wanna know how I turn pro so I can quit worrying how I’m gonna live next month and write all day t pay my bills - now THAT would be a cool way to get by!

‘course, if I had more faith I wouldn’t worry about next month ;-)

    1. Blogger for my regular blog. I’m considering switching to Blogger in Beta, but that means I can’t play with the HTML. I also use Xanga on occasion. I have a MySpace but I don’t really use it for blogging.

Shawn…convince me. Take a post and tell me why WordPress is better than Blogger.

    2. http://themightyduck.blogspot.com, http://www.xanga.com/Dark_Night_of_Faith

    3. I blog on life at IHOP as an young intercessory missionary. I also tend to ramble about whatever odd thoughts are currently frolicking through the untended hallways of my mind. Occasionally I will find some semblance of coherence in said thoughts and write a poem.

    4. I never listened to Christian music when I was growing up. My first musical love was jazz. I also enjoy blues, bluegrass, and a bit of Celtic.

I’m a little late to this party, but I just found the site today. :)

    1. I use WordPress.

    2. My more serious blog is called Thinking Outside the Box, at http://www.cdjproductions.com/Beppo/ and I also write on a blog of clean, random, original humor, at Buffet o’ Blog : http://buffetoblog.wordpress.com/

    3. I write mostly about improving life and getting closer to God. Although on the humor site, it’s more for fun and letting the randomness loose after a long day of computer programming. :) Either way, I enjoy writing; it also helps me sort through all the thoughts in my mind.

    4. My advice (even though I’m a blogger) is to have fun with it. For most of us, it’s not work, so we shouldn’t treat it that way. Write what’s on your heart and in your mind.
