A Contender

“I coulda been a contender…not just a bum.”

Those of us who have a hope and a vision for the future days of Christianity, both in the church and in our own lives, know that we ought to contend for that reality. How do we contend? By paying. Duh.

But there’s another equally important way to contend that we probably don’t even think about. Smitty put it well when he sang “live the life.”

We have to live day in and day out in a lifestyle that is congruent to the coming reality of revival. i.e. living holy now as we must live then. If we want power then, we have to live the holiness now. We must live the same in and out of the prayer room. We have to live without mixture if we want the Spirit without measure.

I know I always thought that when I finally was a dude with power then I’d live a pure, holy, lifestyle in my words, time, money, etc… but it don’t work that way fellas. We gots to get it together now.

The Sermon on the Mount is one huge stumbling block. It is difficult. We like the idea, but not the lifestyle application.
