Tonight is the first night of the Atlanta onething conference and tonight was Merchant Band’s debut performance of Tim’s new song “You Love Me Forever”. This song is the first ’single’ of our new album due out this fall. It’s also the promo song for this year’s big December onething conference…

There’s a couple of people eagerly awaiting that album in New Zealand. When is it coming out?

I was listening to that on the internet whilst I was in our little prayer room!! It WAS really awesome! In fact, it got me to looking up the scriptures on that song and meditate on the whole story. Amazing how God told the shepherds but not the kings or church leaders of the time. The social and political implications of Jesus birth at that time is facinating. Why was Herod troubled at the news of a King of the Jews being born and ALL JERUSALEM WITH HIM? b/c the rulers of the Jews and the priests in the temple were illegitimate; they were not of the line of David or Aaron or Levites. So they were paranoid about someone legitimate being born and took it out on the whole of Jerusalem with beatings, raping the women, killing, mutilating, etc… Herod was a mean dude. Josepheus said he would rather be Herod’s pig than his family or friends b/c the pig was slaughtered more humanely. So that wouldn’t have been the guy to tell to all of Jerusalem that their King had been born! So the first Noel - the first glad tidings - were given to the shepherds to tell the people. And that’s the good news, the gospel, the glad tidings! Sorry for the sermon, I just find the plan of God so fascinating!
