Today’s interview is with Zack “nice suit coat” Hensley.

ZackZack is a full-time staff member at the International House of Prayer in Kansas City. When doing these interviews I really wanted to get people that were outside of my ’sphere’. Zack is the only local guy I asked to be on my blog, but since he’s on the nightwatch I figured that was enough.

Thanks for the Q&A Zack.

I like the interview idea. I might steal the guest interview idea for my blog, it’s a great idea.

Yeah, I know. I’m pretty brilliant. O.k. So what would you say your role is at IHOP? Intercessor, drummer, teacher, pacer…?

I’m an intercessor in the night watch. I fill others roles of service around IHOP, like playing the drums, teaching, helping in our interships, but I am and always will be an Intercessor first.

That is awesome. Having a revelation of intercession has got to be one of the greatest things we can get as missionaries within the House of Prayer. Of all the sections why are you doing the Night-watch?

Because I was promised fame and fortune if I did the night watch for 4 years…hey wait it’s been 4 years….hmmm. No honestly I’m on the night watch because that’s where I meet Jesus. Plus I get more distracted then anyone else I know. At night there are less options, pray or go to bed. I love the idea of praying for the city and nation while they are asleep. I know pastor and leaders are having dreams, visions, and lives are being turned around beacuse of our prayers at night.

Wow. Thank-you for standing in intercession through the night. If it wasn’t for you guys we obviously wouldn’t be a 24/7 House of Prayer. Four years at IHOP hu? What teaching from IHOP has impacted you the most?

Allen Hood’s “The Playfullness of God” seris. My heart so desperately wants to encounter not just the power of the cross, but more than that the man who was on the cross. Allen’s message just cultivates a cry in me for the knowledge of God.

Yeah. That is a phenomenal message. It makes you realize God is not as boring as you think He is. In fact, He’s not boring at all. Speaking of God, what is your favorite worship song right now?

Well besides my bootleg copy of Shawn Blanc’s drum solo extravaganza… I’m going to have to say “It is well with my soul” I can’t hear it with out tearing up when it says, “and Lord haste the day, when my faith beacomes sight” I long for that day.

I remember that extravaganza. I broke 9 drum sticks but 18 people got slain in the Spirit when I hit the china cymbal. Just kidding. So as a man who really enjoys food, where is your favorite place to get BBQ in Kansas City? It is the BBQ capitol of America you know.

Jack Stack…. oh man it’s just carnage, you sit down and eat meat untill you have to repent for gluttony. It’s awesome.

Is the eating awesome or the repenting for gluttony awesome? I’m going to guess you mean the food tastes really good. Well, why were on an odd topic, how’s this for a random question: if you were to change your name to just one name (like ‘Sting’ or ‘Bono’) what would you change it to?

Well oddley enough, in Highschool I was known by most by one word…Beast. They called me that because I was 6″ 5′ and just a big kid, not fat, just big. Now….hmmm…I’ll go with Scope. I have my reasons but for now that’s go with scope…

Beast? Is that why you broke my couch? It wasn’t built for 6″5′ of just big. Scope, that must be why your breath is always so minty fresh. Thanks for that. We need more of your kind in the morning section. Too many people have that nappy coffee breath. Yikes!

Thank you all… I think I’m planning a club that Dustin could join I’ll call it the 6 to the 5 club. In order to join the club, you have to demonsrate your skill at grabbing hard to get objects from high places… well, scope out … much love

Zack - Could members of the 5 to the 8 club join your club if they were able to jump extra high?

I might make an exception, but you have to show up to club meetings with Jeans that are at least 34 long inseams.
