TWO DAYS AGO our prayer room team decided to do a little experiment with praying in tongues. For 24 hours we were going to try to pray in tongues whenever we were not talking. After 24 hours we decided to continue the experiment for a whole week.
Some of the testimonies so far after only 2 days are:
- Noticable increase of God’s presence on our spirit
- Easier to have refined speach (you have to stop praying to say something)
- Less prone to sinning (you have to stop praying to sin, or pray while sinning)
- Noticable increase of joy, kindness and humility
- Increased tenderness and hunger for God

Shawn,
Nice. I am a young pastor in Pennsylvania and do a couple of fasting days a week. Tomorrow is one of my days. I am going to try this “experiment”. As I think about it, it is not really an experiment, but man it sounds a lot more fun when I call it that.
Thanks for the post and the language.

I’m thinking about the Lord.
I’m thinking about being closer to Him and stronger in my faith. I’m thinking about having a more tender heart and having more understanding and clarity on the Bible…
…to list a few.

So what happened after 7 days??? Did you find that this “experiment” permanently changed your prayer life?

@Karen: It’s not something I’ve maintained on a daily basis, but it’s always in the back of my mind. I still try to pray in tongues as often as I can durring my day to day routine.
Praying in tongues is a doorway into revelation, understanding and breakthrough in God. I say go for it and see what mysteries become clear to you.
