Worship Music and IN-N-OUT

Merchant Band and the Onething team are in Los Angeles for a conference this weekend. I love coming to California because the weather is always nicer here than in Kansas City (actually that rings true of everywhere we travel to). Growing up in Colorado with the Rockies in my back yard make the ocean not that exciting to me for some reason. If the ocean were a giant waterfall that would be cool. So I suppose the real reason I love coming out here is for the double-double.

“What,” you say, “is a double-double?” Well it’s a hamburger. But it’s the Chipotle of burger joints. Or perhaps Chipotle is the IN-N-OUT of burrito joints. My point being that IN-N-OUT serves fresh goodness. Their fries are cut from the potato about 45 seconds before they’re cooked and put into your french fry box. My current favorite words are “Order number 45!”

This trip there are three guys with us (Josh, Steve and Corey) that have never even been to California before let alone to IN-N-OUT. So I got to introduce them. Tonight dinner was homemade for the band by some volunteers at the church. One lady was pretty upset when she discovered that half the band was skipping her meal to go get a hamburger, fries and chocolate shake.

I have yet to hear someone say it like that. :)

But seriously, it’s so good. I’ll be back in California in February for a conference and am seriously looking forward to lots of fast food.

Well, let me tell you, I was raised in the town where the IN N OUT was birthed in southern Cal. In my high school days, my sisters dated the sons of the original Baldwin Park drive thru. We used to say “give me a double animal cheese with extra potato’s.” Ahhh, those were the days…last time I was in southern Cal..I tried the same language…those young pups didn’t have a clue…but the burger was just as good as it was 20 plus years ago! Blessings to 1 Thing team. May the youth in that region have eyes and hearts opened to the beauty of the King of Kings.

I must say, us Californians are proud of our In-N-Out. My friends and I have had many a conversation about other states, vistors to our state, and In-N-Out.

I noted the sticker on the drummers shirt during the last session. It made me happy.
